Ah, I think I know what's going on. While trying to reproduce your problem, I grabbed a copy of Tera-WURFL from GitHub and set it up - I had the same problem as you (the problem is technically the xdebug extension's max recursion depth). Then I was stumped until I realized that I was downloading the tagged 2.1.4 release and not the current source.

Please make sure you download the current source, and not the 2.1.4 release!:

fresh new installation, same problem.

debain lenny VPS
plesk 9.5 (i have extended the DB-user privileges manually :) )
PHP Version 5.2.6-1+lenny9
MySQLi 5.0.51a
MySQL 5.0.51a
memory_limit 768M / 128M

tryed the default wurfl.xml and my 2MB small wurfl.xml

I'm happy you falled in the same trap as me downloading the file :)
